“If you want to turn your life around, try thankfulness. It will change your life mightily.” ~ Gerald Good

With Thanksgiving just around the corner, I can’t help but feel a profound sense of gratitude, for all the blessings in my life, and for all of you who have touched my life and supported me on my journey…
I didn’t start out feeling this way. Truth be told, I’ve been going through a difficult time lately.
Fall is a time of harvest and celebration, and I guess I felt a bit let down because my harvest wasn’t quite as fruitful as I’d hoped. Standing at the mid-point of my life, I wished I’d been more successful, that my life had been more fabulous.
This line of thinking kept me down, and made me feel a bit depressed. It wasn’t pleasant, but I allowed it to sit with me for a while…
And then something shifted.
I began to see how far I’ve travelled, how much I’ve learned and grown, and how much joy I’ve experienced along the way.
I thought about all the people who have believed in me and supported me on my journey, by sending me a kind note of thank you, by sharing their struggles with me, or by giving me a second chance…
I also remembered that there were times when I thought about giving up because the journey was too hard. But I didn’t, and kept on going…
These thoughts made my heart swell and filled it with gratitude.
So thank you. For being a part of my community, for inspiring and supporting me, for making my life richer and more fulfilling, and for giving me both a reason and the courage to keep going despite all the obstacles along the way.
I hope you’ll also pause and take an inventory of all the blessings in your life, and that you see your heart, too, is filled with love, joy and gratitude.
Happy Thanksgiving!
