I used to go to a yoga studio once a week. But once I got pregnant, I found my regular yoga practice too demanding for my drastically changing body. So I told myself that I was going to practice prenatal yoga at home. Leaving to my own devices, though, I had a hard time sticking to my plan. Weeks went by, I still hadn’t started my home practice.
Then a couple of months ago, a friend invited me to go to a prenatal yoga class with her. It made a big difference to have an experienced teacher guiding me through a sequence of breathing excises and physical movements. And the feeling of being supported by the teacher and the other ladies in the class was fantastic.
I was hooked. And I’ve been going to my practice once a week ever since…
How many times have you started a workout or fitness plan only to give up in sheer frustration or for lack of motivation? If you want to improve your chances of success, here are five reasons why you want to consider hiring a personal trainer.
1. Accountability
Personal fitness coaches will hold you accountable for your workout. Since you have already made an appointment and paid for it, you are more likely to show up to keep it. Even if you don’t feel like working out when you arrive, your trainer is already there waiting to motivate and encourage you into action.
2. More Results
In order for you to get the most out of your workout, you need to exercise in a manner that enables you to build strength, stamina and flexibility efficiently. If your goal is to lose weight, working with a personal fitness coach can enable you to burn more calories in less time. They will show you which movements and fitness equipment to use and how to use them. They will also build your confidence so that you are able and motivated enough to continue working out on your own in the future.
3. Commitment
With gyms and fitness centers offering around the clock access to their facilities, it easier than ever for you to work out any time that you want. That doesn’t mean that you have to go to the gym every day to get the results you want. A personal trainer will work with you to develop a realistic fitness routine that works with your lifestyle, making it easier for you to commit to it.
4. Education
The more informed and educated you are about health and fitness, the more interested and motivated you will become about your health. A fitness coach is an expert and can educate you on health and fitness topics that pertain to your particular situation so you can develop a happier and healthier lifestyle. Your trainer will also educate you on how to perform your routines using the right techniques to minimize your risk for injury and maximize your results.
5. Unwavering Support
Each hour that you spend with your trainer is an hour that you get to receive personalized attention and unwavering support. This level of support enables you to use the tips and suggestions you receive to modify your routine and approach so that you are able to reach your goals. They provide feedback on your strengths and weak areas and provide you with the support you need to push through any challenges that you may encounter.
If you can afford it, hiring a personal trainer is the best way to go. But if money is an issue, going to a group class and sharing a trainer with others is a great way to help you reap many of the benefits above.
I wish you great success in achieving your health and fitness goals. And I’d love to hear about your experiences or thoughts on hiring a personal trainer. Please feel free to leave me a comment.
