A Flash of Insight: This is How it Works

Last updated on March 21, 2018 By Jing J. 6 Comments

Yesterday my love gave me a massage. While he circled his hands on my belly in a clockwise fashion, a flash of insight struck me like a lightening bolt, and I shouted out in my mind, “This is how it works. This is how everything works!”

I’m sure you can relate to my experience. I always want something I don’t have: a more successful business, more money, more time, a beautiful house by the ocean, the ability to travel around the world…

Despite the fact that I have so much, it’s never enough. So few of us are perfectly content and happy. We struggle. We work hard to achieve our goals, and to obtain the things we don’t have but we wish we did. And when we achieve these things, we just want more. Always more…

Not being able to get “there” frustrates us, discourages us, and pains us.

During the message, with my lover’s hands circling and expanding and filling me with luminous insight, I realized that I already had everything I need, and that I’m living the life of my dreams. Even though it may be of a smaller scale than I wish it to be, I’m living it nevertheless.

All I need to do is to expand what I already have.

If I experience abundance with what I have, I’m much more likely to experience more abundance in my life. If I feel grateful for what I have, I’m much more likely to have more things and experiences to be grateful for.

On the other hand, if I constantly feel a sense of dissatisfaction, that something is lacking in my life, then I’m much more likely to attract situations that leave me feeling dissatisfied and lacking.

I once heard a saying from a spiritual teacher (I can’t remember his name). He said…

“You can never go from imperfection to perfection. You can only go from perfection to perfection.”

With my aha moment, I fully understood what he meant.

I can hear some of you saying, “It’s easy for you to say, because you have your life together. But my life is a complete mess right now. So how can I expand? What are you talking about?”

I’m talking about believing that you can. All you need to do is to find a corner of your life that you’re grateful for – I’m pretty sure you can find one no matter how small or insignificant it may seem. Then expand that corner with a feeling of gratitude and abundance.

Appreciate the small treasures in your life. And they will grow…

Give it a try, and then let me know if you agree with me.

Beautifully written! Thank You Jing! Feeling of satisfaction with what I am at every moment is my challenge for life. I am doing small steps realizing first who I am inside, and growing with that realization. Next will come the satisfaction of my whole been. Satisfaction will get me to aspiration and knowledge of how to better this world.

Thank you Anna! Glad you find this post enlightening. You sum it up perfectly: everything happens from the inside out. When we connect with who we’re inside, everything else fall into places 🙂 Journey on, my dear friend!

You’re so right Vild. We so often forget to savor the small treasures in our lives. I’ve come to realize that appreciating them, savoring them, and feeling grateful for them is the way to make them grow 🙂
