To My Avery

Today is your birthday my Avery

Eight years ago a little bird whispered to me

A beautiful angel would like to come to the world

I was delighted and thrilled

To have a special being living in my belly

You grew and grew

And my belly swelled and swelled

Seven years ago on a magical day

You descended from heaven to earth

Oh we so adored you

The sweetest baby we’ve ever seen

Holding you in our hands is the greatest joy for your mommy and daddy

We swaddled you tightly in a blanket

And watched you falling asleep with an angelic smile on your face

You crawled, walked, and talked

And you have filled our days with happiness we’ve never experienced before

Our hearts are full and overflowing with love

Day by day

You grow and blossom

To a bright, beautiful, and loving little girl

And you’re the silliest coo we’ve ever known

Your laughter wakes us up from our adult daydreams

And you remind us of what’s like to be fully alive

From preschool, to kindergarten, to 1^st grade

From Los Angeles to Tega Cay

You’re so brave and adventurous

And you never cease to bring us in awe

We love you more than anything in the world

And we are the luckiest mommy and daddy

To live with an angel descending from heaven

We wish to share your steps on earth

Every moment of every day

And every step wherever you take
