period pain remedies essential oils

Do you know that certain essential oils can help relieve period pain such as cramps, headaches, back pains and joint pains?

When you experience premenstrual or menstrual pain, take a warm bath with a few drops of your favorite essential oils. Or give yourself a gentle belly massage with a few drops diluted in a delicious coconut carrier oil.

Here are a couple of essential oils that are helpful in relieving period pain.

Juniper or Cedar stimulates circulation and gets things moving. It’s good for painful periods when you feel congested, mentally as well as physically.

Marjoram warms and relieves spasm and is good for cold-type period pain (dysmennorrhea).

Lemon balm calms spasms. It also helps regulate cycle and increases fertility. Its soothing and relaxing property makes it excellent for removing tension and blocks.

Rosemary stimulates nerves and clears the mind. It’s a good remedy for headaches and migraines.

You can inhale directly from the bottle or over a bowl of rosemary diffused in hot water. Alternatively, you can rub a drop of the oil diluted in coconut oil onto your temples.

Other essential oils such as basil, clary sage, chamomile, geranium, lavender and rose are also helpful in balancing hormones and moods.

Experiment and find out what you like and what works for you. If you come across any other useful remedies, please leave a comment and share with the rest of us.
