PMS anger, depression and mood swings are perhaps the most challenging PMS symptoms to deal with. These pent-up emotions consume previous life energy and are detrimental to our relationships. Yet we often feel helpless when these powerful emotions hit us.
“How can I deal with my roller-coaster emotions during the premenstrual time?” I used to ask myself this question all the time, and I’ve heard many other women ask the same question over and over again.
There are many ways to approach our emotions. From the perspective of the mind, we can try to understand the nature, causes and triggers of our emotions, and the potential consequences of our actions, perhaps using the cognitive behavior therapy technique as a tool. We can also approach our emotions energetically, releasing them through breathing and yoga exercises.
Today, I’m going to share with you a simple acupressure technique to help open up your channels and remove the stagnation in your system. When energy begins to flow freely, you’ll naturally feel lighter and more joyful.
This technique is very simple and easy to learn. First, let’s locate the points:
The Valley of Harmony (point LI4)
LI4 is located in the webbing between your thumb and index finger on both hands. Apply steady pressure with your opposite thumb until you feel soreness. Hold for 2 minutes. Repeat on the other hand.
The Great Surge (LIV3)
LV3 is located in the webbing between the big and second toe on both feet. Apply steady pressure with your opposite thumb until you feel soreness. Hold for 2 minutes. Repeat on the other foot.
These four points (2 on the feet and 2 on the hands) are powerful acupuncture points to remove stagnation and promote the smooth flow of energy.
They’re called the Four Gates in Chinese medicine, and are often used to treat emotional disturbances, painful menstruation and irregular periods, or simply to release stress.
If you have a lot of stagnation internally, these points may feel very sore, initially. As you continue to press these points on a regularly basis, your channels will open up and the soreness will subside. Try this simple acupressure every day for an entire moon cycle and see if you notice any difference in your mood and menstrual cycle.
Enjoy! And I look forward to hearing your experiences!
I was wondering if you ever thought of changing the page layout of your site?
Its very well written; I love what youve got to say.
But maybe you could a little more in the way
of content so people could connect with it better.
Youve got an awful lot of text for only having 1 or two pictures.
Maybe you could space it out better?

Dear Tami, thanks for your feedback! I really appreciate it. I will pay more attention to spacing in the future — perhaps adding more pictures too. Thank you 🙂
