Let’s speak up! Join our hands together – to an enlightened womanhood. You’ve finally turned it around. PMS no longer runs your life. You are its master. You may not be perfect at managing it all the time. You may still loose control from time to time. But you know yourself well and are confident in your ability to tame the PMS tiger.
You accept and love yourself for all of your imperfections. Every day you show up and say “yes” to life and to love. You open your arms and your heart to embrace the messy, imperfect, and beautiful journey of your life – a trip more wonderful than you could have imagined.
You are free – free from the tyranny of PMS. But with that freedom comes certain responsibilities.
Today there are millions of women still struggling with PMS, fighting alone and in silence. The century old cultural taboo has kept us from talking about this issue, openly and in a meaningful way.
We don’t hesitate to joke about it. Men and women seem to enjoy the acronyms that PMS represents: “Pass My Shotgun,” “Pissy Mood Syndrome,” “Potential Murder Suspect,” just to name a few. But buried deep beneath the humor lies fear, guilt and shame – a heavy burden that has suffocated women for centuries.
Will someone please tell me why? We’ve visited the surface of Mars. Invented stem cells and human clones. And we know there’s really nothing demonic or superstitious about menstruation and PMS. So why do we still choose to suffer in silence?
This old taboo is no longer relevant. Nor does it serve us any longer.
It’s time to break the silence and say, “Enough is enough! It’s time for a new era of enlightened womanhood to honor our menstrual cycles and to fully embrace all of our beauty and glory, and the “imperfections” that come with it. It is those ‘imperfections’ that make us perfect – and make us fully women.”
It is not easy to break a habit – not to mention one that’s lasted for centuries. We have a long way to go. But one person can make a difference. This person is you – and me. When we join our hands together we are powerful beyond measure.
I am reaching my hand out to you. Will you reach your hand out to someone else? I hope you do, because when you find joy, it is your duty to share it.
